Gayle Shotkin, LMSW, CST

AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, Founder of SHCS

Gayle believes that some of the most meaningful moments in life happen when a person finally feels safe enough to share what they have been carrying for years. Fascinated by human stories, the relationships that shape us, and the mechanics of true healing, she views being trusted with her clients' deeply personal experiences as an incredible privilege.

Gayle’s practice centers on helping individuals and couples navigate the complex topics that are too often left unspoken. She believes that true healing begins when shame is dismantled, and she is honored to walk alongside her clients as they discover healthier, more connected versions of themselves.

Specialist in Relationship Counseling and Sex Therapy

Throughout her career, Gayle noticed a consistent theme: many people deeply desired to discuss intimacy, sexuality, desire, and relationship challenges, but they rarely knew where to turn. Recognizing that these deeply human conversations are often surrounded by silence or shame, she pursued advanced training in sex therapy and relationship counseling.

Today, Gayle specializes in helping clients improve communication, heal from past trauma, deepen both emotional and physical intimacy, and build authentic, lasting connections.

Her Therapeutic Approach: Direct, Compassionate, and Non-Judgmental

Clients working with Gayle will find that therapy does not have to feel stiff, clinical, or intimidating. Her counseling style is defined by warmth, compassion, and a genuine curiosity, allowing clients to feel comfortable and at ease quickly.

Gayle balances this gentle support with a direct approach when she believes it will foster real personal growth. In her sessions, there is room for laughter just as there is room to sit with difficult emotions. Gayle strives to ensure that every client leaves her office feeling understood, empowered, and entirely non-judgmental, with the ultimate goal of witnessing their transformation from shame to self-acceptance.

A Personalized Lens Shaped by Culture and Story

Growing up, Gayle learned firsthand that every person and every family carries a unique history. These formative experiences shaped her deep appreciation for the many cultural and environmental influences that dictate how we communicate, love, cope, and connect.

Rather than relying on assumptions, Gayle approaches every client with curiosity. She takes the time to truly understand each individual's values, family dynamics, culture, and identity so that the therapeutic process feels deeply personalized, respectful, and meaningful.
